Update Letter 6th Grade Art 4/9
Amazing 6th Grade Art Students,
I know that this week has been difficult for many of you. Trying to read and understand what is expected in each class, doing the work, and managing your own time can be hard for adults, let alone for you as middle school students. I struggle when I take online classes, I imagine that many of you are the same. Know that I understand, and care about each of you.
All information about lessons and submitting artwork can be found here at the website. I have assigned due dates for our art projects, but these are flexible. I am not marking you down for late work or putting zeros in the Gradebook. These dates are just a suggestion to help guide you and continue art at home. I am hoping you will be able to find time in your busy week to work on art when possible. I want you to enjoy the part of your week where you get to make art, I do not want you to stress over due dates!
My goal for you during this distance learning is to develop artistic skills and find some joy in the act of creating!
Because I know that some of you might be overwhelmed I am not adding any other assignments for next week. Please work at your own pace to complete the work assigned before spring break -Hand/Shoe and 4 views/4 related objects, and the Art Material Challenge next week. A good goal is to have these three assignments done by Monday April 20th. Make sure to email me a photo of your work-finished or in progress.
Next week I will begin to hold weekly Zoom meetings for each class period on Wednesday of each week, giving us a chance to check in face to face. This coming week I am not introducing anything new during our Zoom meet, but have your artwork handy if you can so we can share with each other what we've been working on. I would love to see as many of you as possible! Check your email for Zoom Meetig info!

6th grade art at SEAS is a 12 week long course focused on exploring a variety of art materials, building artistic skills, gaining an understanding of art history and learning to connect art to the world around us. Each 2-3 week project would usually explore a different medium and subject, but now that we are doing an online distance learning I encourage you to use the materials available in your home. I know that looks different for everyone and that is ok!
You do not need to be an amazing artist or “natural” to succeed in art class!
