Coffee Filter Flowers
There are many ways to create beautiful flowers using just coffee filters, washable markers, tape/staple and any type of stick. At our art meetup this Friday I'll be demonstrating some different ways to make these, and updating this page with videos of different techniques this week!
Video demonstration of how to create Coffee Filter Flowers below. Demonstration is split into 2 parts. Complete the first video and let coffee filters dry. Once filters are dry compete part 2.
Color a few coffee filters at a time, each flower needs at least 1 filter,. Make sure you use washable markers!
If you want to make a fluffier flower like this pink one, you need 10 coffee filters. Follow this link for directions: happydealhappyday.com/coffee-filter-peonies/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=pinterest&utm_campaign=tailwind_smartloop&utm_content=smartloop&utm_term=30653436
Salt Dough Nature Prints
These make great wall hangings! Check out my video below on how to make salt dough!
Directions for creating your nature prints:
Directions for creating your nature prints:
- Gather items to press into your salt dough from your yard-items that are sturdier and have a raised texture work best!
- Press dough into a flat pancake. If you want to create a shape, form with your hands or a cookie cutter. Add a hole at the top to hang on the wall.
- Press items into dough. Make sure to press on all parts of the object. Remove Items.
- To Dry: I like Air Drying, or setting out in the sun the best. Air drying takes 4-5 days. You could airdry for a couple days, add color , then let dry the rest of the way. You can also bake in the oven at 250 for 1-2 hours. Flip them halfway through. I do not like this method as well because baking will make them rise some like a cookie, and they sometimes stick to the cookie sheet.
- Once cooled, you can add color with watercolor paint or markers. If you use markers, use old ones because the texture of the dough can ruin the marker tip.
